Whats the Difference between UI and UX Design: A Beginners Guide

You might have heard about UI and UX design, but did you know that these two things are poles apart from each other? Here is everything you need to know about UI and UX, their differences and the key roles.

What is UI & UX Design: Firstly, you need to know the basis of UI and UX design. UI is short for User Interface, while UX stands for User Experience. UX design is concerned with how a product, service or software will be used by the customer and whether the customer will like it or not. UX design involves the work of making prototypes and digitizing it, since we are living in a tech-controlled environment. UI design, on the other hand, is the process of making any product, website or software appealing and easy to use for the customer. It is mostly digital work and it involves the illustration of how said product or app visually pleasing and how easy is it to use.

What does a UI Designer Do? UI and UX design are both digitally skewed, but you need more than this to figure out the responsibilities and tasks of a UI and UX designer. A UI designer is in charge of researching, analyzing and managing the development of a product or app. This can also involve working on storylines and branding, in order to make the product look and feel more appealing and engaging for the customer. The end goal of a UI designer is to make sure that the customer enjoys the physical appearance and quality as much as the functions of the product.

What does a UX Designer Do? A person who is responsible for the analysis of the product, customer feedback, the making of content regarding the product, testing and prototyping for the final design, tracking of the goals associated with the product, etc. constitute the job of a UX designer. They want to make the experience of the product better for the customer and any design related development and analysis for this goal comes under the umbrella of UX designing. Another noteworthy thing to remember is that in UI design, there is coding involved, whereas in UX design, there isn’t.

UI or UX – Which is Better? UI and UX design jobs can be either salary based or freelance. Both designers are paid extremely well, especially in this modern and tech-driven world. If you’re considering a career in either of these fields and want to find out which one is better, then answer is simple: There is no definitive choice. While UI designers can work efficiently in digital and mechanical environments, UI and UX design are the pillars of any product development and one cannot work without the other.

Even if you’re a beginner and don’t know anything about UI and UX design, then these things will be tremendously useful, especially if you’re trying to pursue a career in either of these fields.
