Statamic is the most popular CMS in the Laravel world, and its fastest mode, full-measure static caching, has always needed custom web-server rewrite rules. That's easy on your own VPS and awkward on a managed platform, so Statamic sites on Cloud have usually settled for the slower half-measure cache.

What Laravel Cloud now does
When your app requires statamic/cms, Cloud detects it at deploy time and configures Nginx to serve the pre-rendered HTML in public/static directly. Cached pages are returned without ever touching PHP, which is as fast as a Laravel app gets.
Form submissions and live preview still reach your application as normal. Apps that don't use Statamic are unaffected.
How to enable it
Add one environment variable and deploy:
STATAMIC_STATIC_CACHING_STRATEGY=full
No Nginx snippets, no custom build steps.
The important caveat: run one instance
The static cache lives on each instance's local filesystem and is cleared on every deployment. When content changes, Statamic only invalidates the cache on the instance that handled the change. With several replicas, the others would keep serving stale pages.
So Laravel's guidance is:
- Set your App cluster's autoscaling strategy to None (a single instance).
- Scale vertically by picking a larger instance size, not by adding replicas.
Because full static caching skips PHP entirely, a single well-sized instance can handle a lot of traffic, and Cloud's edge network in front of it absorbs much of the rest.

When to use it
Good fit:
- Marketing sites, blogs and documentation built on Statamic
- Sites with bursty traffic from campaigns or social shares
- Agencies moving Statamic client sites off shared hosting or a VPS
Think twice if:
- You need horizontal autoscaling for resilience
- Many pages are personalised per visitor (static caching serves everyone the same HTML)
Half-measure caching, which still boots Laravel but skips most of the work, remains an option for those cases.
FAQ
Does Laravel Cloud support Statamic? Yes. Statamic is a Laravel package, so it deploys like any Laravel app, and Cloud now also supports its full-measure static caching.
How do I enable Statamic static caching on Laravel Cloud? Set STATAMIC_STATIC_CACHING_STRATEGY=full and deploy.
Can I autoscale a Statamic site with full static caching? Laravel recommends a single instance, scaled vertically, because each replica keeps its own cache.
