The fundamental SoC of the processor is based on a 5nm node. Besides, a few downgrades are expected, such as the absence of 5G support, along with a stripped-down model of SD888. The American chipmaker is also reportedly working on target markets where 5G is not shared and accessible.

After exposing the information related to the inexpensive and lower-end Snapdragon 888 variant, other information is also declared by Quandt. For instance, Quandt also affirms the early sample testing of its upcoming premium processor.

The new chip Waipio

According to reports, the chip will be known as "Waipio," situated in Hawaii. Qualcomm is famous for the exercise of naming its products after Hawaiian locations. For example, Snapdragon 888 was Lahaina, following a city in Maui, one of the eighth Hawaii islands.

The model number of the new chip 'Waipio' is SM8450. Roland Quandt also claims that the chips are compatible and well-suited with up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. Further, it was communicated that significant upgrades would be done on the camera capabilities of this chip.

Moreover, since both companies have undertaken partnerships, Leica technology is expected to come with the new flagship chip. The company is testing an advanced model known as 'Leical" for future innovations.

Leica, a German Manufacturing Company

For the people who are not aware of Leica, it is a German manufacturing company that works on cameras and various other optics. The name of 'Leica' is also seen on the flagship handsets of Huawei devices, as the brand entered a partnership with the German company a few years ago. And the topnotch camera quality of Huawei is also one reason for Huawei's positive image and success.

However, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, the present-generation flagship, is operated with a 5nm process and manufactured by Samsung. But still, it is uncertain whether the company will opt for a 4nm node to enhance its processor's success.

Leica and Qualcomm partnership

As a matter of course, the Leica and Qualcomm partnership is not only proved by the internal codename appearance. The audience requires more proof to comprehend this theory as Quant himself is uncertain about codenames' beliefs. The same is the case with other technological information about this processor because leaked news doesn't always mean it comes from official sources.

The statements and news rambling around the world suggest that it will be a photo support module. The upcoming Snapdragon888's spectra are expected to fulfill several tasks related to image processing. However, the final product's features can only be determined after the new flagship chip processor's release or presentation dates.
