What is driving the rally

Bloomberg points to two things: a strong revenue outlook and the largest share buyback ever announced. The buyback was launched while the stock's valuation sat near multi-year lows.

The recovery has been quick. Nvidia closed at an all-time high on 2 October for the first time since May, Quartz reports. Before that, a two-month slide had wiped more than $1 trillion off its value. The shares have gained nearly 25% since bottoming in late July.

The demand behind it

Nvidia's revenue comes mostly from data-centre chips that train and run AI models. Spending there is still rising.

Foxconn, which assembles AI servers, reported third-quarter revenue up 47% year on year, according to Tech Startups, citing Reuters. That shows orders flowing through the supply chain, not only to Nvidia.

What could slow it down

Bloomberg notes that investors are also dealing with high interest rates and weak economic data. Nvidia's next test is its earnings report, listed by Yahoo Finance for 17 November 2026.

Why developers and founders should care

Nvidia's revenue is a proxy for how much compute the AI industry is buying. That compute sets the price and availability of every hosted model.

  • More capacity usually means cheaper tokens and higher rate limits over time.
  • Model launches are tied to chip supply, so release schedules follow hardware.
  • Products built on AI APIs inherit this cost base. Budget for it.
