To effectively safeguard application logic, developers typically keep sensitive operations on a secure server. However, when critical components reside within the client, they become vulnerable to disassembly and analysis. While obfuscation can deter reverse engineering, it does not make recovery impossible. This article chronicles an experiment aimed at evaluating the resilience of a decompiled build against a frontier LLM's investigative capabilities.

The focus of this experiment was the master key embedded within the binary. This key is crucial for decoding configuration values, which are XOR-encoded using a runtime-derived key. The challenge was not just to hide these values but to complicate the process of discovering their relationships. The experiment aimed to assess whether an adversary could successfully reverse-engineer the encoded data without prior knowledge of the implementation.
